Brake 'Bull' Power ?
It's a funny thing but I always assumed that
people like Newton etc, had pretty much set the laws of physics in stone but
apparently not............
When we started on our quest to design and build our own range of dynamometers
back in 2003 we never knew that the laws of physics were being thrown out the
window by 'making up' horsepower figures from a leading manufacturer of dyno's.
HP = (torque x RPM) / 5252 well that's what we thought, but obviously not.
Figures were being inflated for some strange reason.
This reason is now public knowledge and can be held accountable for the lack of
comparability between different manufacturers of dyno systems. Our own systems
can output in TRUE REAR WHEEL HORSEPOWER as well as a over-inflated comparison
if required.

So the apparent 'Industry Standard' is nothing to do with rear wheel horsepower,
it's really only an estimated crank horsepower
based loosely on a 1985 Yamaha VMAX............how sad !
Like we tell our customers....... "A chassis dyno is good for one thing,
measuring your rubber to the tarmac, it cannot measure anything else accurately
without assuming variables. If you want to know your crank power buy an engine
dyno !"
